Daisy was found wandering the streets of Chessington in Surrey. She was rescued by a kind hearted lady who took her into her garden and cared for her before contacting us. Having found herself in the situation of needing to fend for herself, initially Daisy was nippy and understandably untrusting, but she soon regained that trust when shown kindness and care. She is the tallest of our Shetland herd and has a definite gentle authority over the others – she is the matriarch of the group and often shows wonderful friendship and protection of the rest of the herd. Daisy has a bit to contend with herself, which makes her generosity all the more impressive – she is blighted by sweet itch, a violent allergic reaction to midge bites. It can lead her to almost uncontrollable scratching and itching which simply overwhelms her at times. We do all we can to alleviate the problem of course and despite being hugely uncomfortable at times, her good nature remains in place for far longer than it would for most – clearly understanding that we are trying to help!
