Blueboy is one of two foals born at Mane Chance. He is the son of Gwen, who had suffered much abuse before being rescued and who is the most sensitive horse at the Sanctuary. At the beginning he learnt from his mum not to trust people and he was an extremely anxious horse, despite the fact that he has only ever known kindness. However this soon changed and he started to understand that his family were all safe and he had nothing to worry about – he even started to teach his mother that it’s ok to trust people too. Blueboy is extremely handsome and is a fit, healthy young gelding. He remains shy but is no longer as anxious – he prefers to work out the pros and cons of a situation rather than go charging in, unlike some of the others. Even though he has grown into a strapping horse, he is very gentle and loves some fuss and attention from the team. He wanders over calmly for a cuddle or a scratch and he remains a firm favourite with many of our visitors. It is a delight to see this young horse grow into a really wonderful, more confident adult.
